Our 8 tips for preserving your denim.
Denim is an expression of style and a timeless symbol of casual elegance. At Petite Mendigote, we create pieces that transcend seasons. Taking care of your jeans means extending their beauty and durability.

TIP 1: FIX THE COLOR OF YOUR JEANS
The best tip we can give you to preserve the color of your new jeans is to treat them before their first machine wash. Mix half a cup of white vinegar in 2 liters of lukewarm water, immerse your pre-turned jeans in this solution, and let them soak for half a day. After soaking, wring them out and wash them at 30 degrees in the machine or by hand.
TIP 2: WASH THEM INSIDE OUT TO PRESERVE THEIR COLOR
Washing denim is a key step to preserve its appearance. To prevent the fabric from losing its color or shape, remember to wash it inside out. Use cold or lukewarm water. Hot water can make the dye run. And most importantly, do not mix your jeans with lighter clothes to prevent color transfer.
TIP 3: MODERATE YOUR WASHES
It's not necessary to wash your jeans after each use. Too frequent washing can damage the material and accelerate its wear. Prefer to wash your jeans only when truly necessary, for example in case of stains or if your denim starts to lose its shape. Use refreshing sprays to neutralize odors without washing your denim. You can also clean only stains to space out your washes.
TIP 4: FOR MACHINE WASHING
To preserve the size and color of your jeans, opt for a wash in cold water or at a maximum of 30°C. Use a delicate cycle to prevent shrinking and wear. Avoid or limit the use of fabric softener as it can alter the fabric.
TIP 5: OPT FOR AIR DRYING
Prefer air drying to preserve the quality of your denim. Avoid the dryer, as the heat risks damaging the fibers of your jeans and causing them to shrink. Hang your jeans inside out on a hanger or lay them flat to maintain their natural shape.
TIP 6: LIMIT IRONING
Denim does not need ironing after each wash, as it wrinkles little. If you need to iron it, opt for a low temperature and place a thin cloth between the iron and the jeans to protect the material. This avoids any direct contact that could damage the denim.
TIP 7: STORE YOUR JEANS FLAT AND AWAY FROM LIGHT
To preserve the color of your denim, fold them carefully and store them in a clean, dry place, away from direct sunlight. Prolonged exposure to light can dull the denim. Proper storage limits wear and helps extend the lifespan of your clothes.
TIP 8: REPAIR YOUR JEANS QUICKLY
If you notice tears or loose seams, make repairs quickly to prevent the problems from worsening. A quick repair will extend the lifespan of your denim jeans and keep them looking new longer.
As you can see, caring for your jeans is not complicated. After a special first wash, all you have to do is take care of your denim daily. With these tips, although natural wear remains inevitable, you will extend the lifespan and appearance of your jeans as much as possible.
